Kaiserschleuse Lock (Bremerhaven)
Kaiserschleuse lock was extended to a passage width of 55 m and a length of 305 m between 2007 and 2011.
The new sliding gate was designed as a lifting-sliding type. The sliding gate consists of a bottom and an upper part. The gate upper part is moved upward by approx. 600 mm via two hydraulic cylinders, in order to balance the water level in the lock chamber. During this process, water may flow into or out of the lock chamber through an opening of 0.6 x 57 m between the two gate parts. When the water level is balanced, the upper part is lowered again and the gate moves into the gate recess.
Road traffic is routed from the road onto the lifting-sliding gate via lifting slabs on the land-side and sea head. The lifting slabs are lifted and lowered via hydraulic cylinders.
Scope of planning:
- Lifting-sliding gate (L = 56 m, H = 20 m, W = 11.6 m, weight approx. 2200 t)
- Undercarriage
- Upper carriage
- Hoist for lifting the gate upper part
- Ballasting and draining system
- Drive system for opening and closing the gates
- Cable deflection sheaves with tensioning device
- Rail system
- Gate locking system
- Platforms, walkways, handrails
