History

The firm was founded by Dipl.-Ing. Hans Rapsch as a sole freelancer in 1996.

When Dipl.-Ing. Klaus-Dieter Schubert joined, the firm was transformed into a limited liability company (GmbH) and was named Ingenieurbüro Rapsch und Schubert Stahlwasserbau Consulting GmbH from 1999.

Due to the employment of highly qualified people with in-depth experience in hydromechanical steel structures and equipment, the departments design, computation and CAD could be developed continuously since 2000.

Mr. Schubert retired for reasons of age in 2011. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtschafts-Ing. Matthias Schäfers joined the management board at his place.

With effect from 01/07/2012, IRS became a member of the KREBS+KIEFER Group, with the legal form of the company being changed from GmbH to AG (stock corporation) upon consolidation. The integration into the KREBS+KIEFER Group strengthened and enhanced our expertise. The IRS management board consisting of Dipl.-Ing. Hans Rapsch and Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtschafts-Ing. Matthias Schäfers remained unchanged at the Würzburg site. The core business areas of hydromechanical steel structures and mechanical engineering were extended by hydraulic engineering, solid construction and specialised civil construction.

Mr. Rapsch resigned from the management board for age reasons in late 2015.

With effect from 01/01/2017, Dipl.-Ing. Andreas Freitag (graduate mechanical engineer) was appointed as the second board member of IRS Stahlwasserbau Consulting AG.
Since then, mechanical engineering and plant construction were developed as an additional mainstay to hydromechanical steel structures.

Due to the continuous increase in employees, we had to move into a new, modern office complex in January 2021.
